The Doctorate signifies a proven ability to conduct independent scientific research. Under the auspices of the Combined Faculty of Mathematics, Engineering and Natural Sciences, we confer the academic degree Dr. rer. nat. in the subjects of mathematics and computer science.

We seek to promote the interest in mathematics and computer science by organizing events for schools and for the broader public. Alumns and newcomers join in and contribute to shared knowledge and contacts.

Study Skills Courses by heiSKILLS

The university's heiSKILLS center for competence and languages offers courses in the area of generic competencies.
Zentrales Sprachlabor (öffentliches Bild von KuM)

The university's heiSKILLS center for competence and languages offers all its courses both in face-to-face and in digital flipped classroom formats. They are open to students of all subjects and are ideal for credit in the ÜK area (each gives 4 CP). The courses are designed to support students in building key generic skills alongside subject teaching. 

The courses in the upcoming summer term 2023 are:  

  •  "Study Skills: Learning & Time Management"
  •  "Study Skills: Motivation & Social Skills":  
  •  "Study Skills: Overcome Procrastination".
  •  "Question this: introduction to critical thinking for study and everyday life"
  •  "Introduction to academic writing" (3 courses)
  •  "Peer counseling Study Skills" (2 workshops)

Registration opens on April 1, 2023, and for the two early academic writing courses as early as March 1, 2023.
